If you or someone you know is in a crisis situation and feeling suicidal you have several ways to find help immediately. They are listed below. Please always seek professional help immediately and do not allow yourself to be alone.

What happens when you call a hotline?

A trained volunteer or a mental health professional will answer your call and ask you about what’s happening in your life and how it is currently affecting you and how you re feeling. Be as honest as possible, they are there to help. The volunteers are trained in the same manor as professional counselors. They will not judge you or tell you what to do, please be patient and feel free to talk openly about what is troubling you.

They will mostly listen and will ask questions to help you explore your feelings and to help you move in a positive direction. The volunteer will also most likely ask if you are feeling suicidal. This doesn’t mean that you have to be suicidal to contact them, but ask because it can be a huge relief for someone to admit how bad they are really feeling and this is may be one of their thoughts.
Feel free to talk as long as you like and you don t have to tell them your real name or any personal details at all if you don’t want to. Feel comfortable and call, they are waiting for you when you need them!
